The Road to the
Giant
The route to the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP will allow us to cover several iconic places of Khakassia - from thousand-year-old mounds to the Sayanogorsk aluminum plant. On the way, we will recall the curious details of the history of Siberia, and driving through the places of ancient pagan rites, we will talk about the Khakass, Tagar and Okunev cultures. In the village of Sizaya you will see the preserved temple of the 19th century and the places where the Soviet wrestler Ivan Yarygin grew up. And if you want to relax a little, we can visit the entertainment area "Tartuga" with children's attractions and a picnic area.
Hydroelectric power station, which is better to see
once
And here in front of you is the gigantic dam of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station, one of the largest and most powerful on the planet. From the observation deck you will appreciate the scale of the monumental station, which provides energy to half of Siberia. With my help, you will learn how this miracle of Soviet engineering was created, dispel myths about hydroelectric power plants and understand what it cost Siberia to block the Yenisei River. And I will also talk about the modern life of the station and the accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station in 2009 from the position of an eyewitness.
Please note: Our tour does not include a visit to the dam - only a visual overview from the surrounding area, as well as an overview from the observation platforms near the hydroelectric power station.
