Sulak canyon, sand dune sarykum and not only – through the eyes of a highlander guide!
Our minimum program is to make you fall in love with Dagestan! You will see our land through the eyes of people who grew up in these mountains. Discover legends and traditions. Walk through the sands of the dune, look at the deepest canyon in Europe and Chirkey Lake from different viewing rooms, take a boat ride along sulak past the waterfalls. You will see a powerful hydroelectric power station and a cave, drink tea in nature and have a delicious lunch.
What awaits you
Sarykum: the white sun of the
desert
After about an hour of travel, you will see an impressive sandy mountain - the Sand Dune Sarykum is recognized by geologists as the second largest in the world after the sands of the Sahara. You will have time to walk along the sandy ridges and take pictures, and I will tell you about the uniqueness of this miracle among the Dagestan mountains.
🐟 We will visit the tourist base "Glavryba". Guests are welcome here: a well-groomed territory, artificial waterfalls, a cozy veranda above the pond and, of course, delicious freshly cooked fish.
Miatlinskaya HPP, swings and zipline over the
abyss
Following to the canyon, we will not miss the second stage of the Sulak cascade of hydroelectric power plants. Its concrete arched dam is as high as a 28-storey building, and the length along the crest is almost like two football fields. Then we offer to evaluate the extreme entertainment: "fly" on a swing in the Turkish style and sweep on a zipline over the river at an altitude of 250 meters.
Sulak canyon from the water: boat trip on request
The next stop is the village of Zubutli at the bottom of the canyon. In the last century, the village was destroyed by an earthquake, but gradually it is being revived and boat trips along Sulak are organized here. Going sailing, you will feel the adrenaline and enjoy the landscapes that change with each turn: these are mountains up to the sky, turquoise water, trees on the rocks and waterfalls weeping through green moss.

Sulak Canyon from a height: three observation rooms
The observation deck in the village of Dubki has long become tourist, but the view from here is breathtaking. On the left in the distance is the Chirkey Reservoir, at the bottom is the ribbon of the river, everywhere there are mountains to the horizon! Next, we will go to a new location, the Nohjo Cave, next to which you will discover other angles of the canyon. Finally, you will find the Dagestani Troll Language - a rock protruding above the gorge, on which top photos are obtained.
Chirkey Lake and Buynak Pass
On the way back, you will take a closer look at the Chirkey Reservoir, learn about its history and modern role. In addition, we will dwell on the observation deck of the Buynak Pass - a picturesque mountain road.

- We travel on a comfortable minivan Honda Elysion. Transportation costs are included in the price.
- We will meet you at the airport or at your hotel in Makhachkala or Kaspiysk and after the tour we will bring you back
