I built the route so that you can clearly trace how the city center has changed from its foundation to the present day. You will see the remains of the fortress wall and hear about the birth of Stavropol and why it was called "the main gate of Russia in the Caucasus". And also appreciate the later sights - Kazan Cathedral, Alexander Square, Treasury, Provincial Government - and find out how they looked before.
Urban mysteries
Stavropol keeps many interesting stories and legends. I will reveal how the building of the city Duma, where the house of the police master was located, was saved from destruction and why it is not fully known whether Suvorov visited our city. I will also tell you why Nicholas I wanted to demolish Stavropol, where the commander of the Caucasian line lived, what famous people came to our region and why.
