Sightseeing tour of korolev: from artillery to space

Welcome to the largest science city of our country! On the walk we will explore the center of Korolev and touch its history - from the secret developments of the artillery scientist V.G. Grabin to the discoveries of S.P. Korolev. Houses in the style of constructivism, old streets and monuments of the Soviet era - as a native resident, I will help you notice the main thing and share urban legends.

What awaits you

Kaliningrad near Moscow: the origins of the city
The first part of the tour is devoted to the pre-war era in the life of the city. We will walk through the historical center, the area of the station "Podlipki-Dachnye": we will look at the preserved buildings, the first fire station of the city and the entrance of RSC Energia. The pre-war chronicles of Korolev are associated primarily with the name of V.G. Grabin - you will find out what the outstanding theorist of artillery science became famous for, and evaluate his contribution to the cause of Victory. And we will also figure out how the city was formed and why there were two Kaliningrads in the USSR.

Post-war Korolev: space and constructivism
Then we will fast forward to the post-war years: we will go through the places associated with the legendary scientist S.P. Korolev, turn to lenin and Comintern streets, inspect unique houses in the style of Soviet constructivism, among which the remarkable "tractor house". You will learn what mark in the history of Korolev was left by the all-Union starosta M.I. Kalinin, you will see the House of Culture, built at his expense. And of course, you will hear urban legends that will complement historical facts.
