Festival "summer of ballet"

The magical and romantic ballet marathon is one of the main events of the summer in St. Petersburg. It will be interesting for experienced ballet lovers, those who want to come to the theater for the first time, and families with children. The audience is waiting for ballet classics in a virtuoso performance of St. Petersburg stars.

Summer is the most romantic time in St. Petersburg. It's a time of long walks, luxurious sunsets, parks, open verandas and, of course, falling in love and new hopes. And it's also a time of ballet, an art inextricably linked with the city on the Neva.

Until the end of July, the Mikhailovsky Theatre will host the Summer of Ballet festival, which has already become a good St. Petersburg tradition. The ballet marathon includes five performances: La Bayadere, Don Quixote, Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake. Famous music, outstanding choreography and the skill of the artists will take the audience into the magical world of classical dance.

"La Bayadère" (July 21 and 22)

Age limit: 12+

The ballet to the music of Ludwig Minkus tells the love story of a temple dancer and a beautiful warrior who is not destined to be together. The action takes place in exotic and in many ways fabulous India, recreated in exquisite scenery and costumes by Serbian artist Angelina Atlagic.

The choreography of Nacho Duato is based on the classical version of Marius Petipa. At the same time, archaic mimic episodes were excluded from the ballet - they were replaced by arabesque plastic numbers.

Don Quixote" (July 25 and 26)

Age limit: 12+

A cheerful, festive and bright performance, in which the stars of the Bolshoi Theater Eleonora Sevenard and Denis Rodkin perform, as a rule, causes delight in the hall. The audience is circling the whirlwind of "ballet Spain" with castanets, guitar picks, flirtatious looks of dancers and scarlet cloaks of bullfighters.

This complex ballet requires virtuoso performance from the artists, but in terms of acting, dancers are given freedom: the characters of the characters allow you to distinguish a variety of features in them, so every time the audience is waiting for something new.

Swan Lake" (July 27-29)

Age limit: 6+

Performance with the participation of the premiere of the Bolshoi Theater Artem Ovcharenko. In Nacho Duato's version, the legendary ballet looks more like a fantasy than a fairy tale. The choreographer sought to tell the famous story in a new way, to make it more modern and very human. The action of the performance was transferred to the XX century, but the emotions still come from the brilliant music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The elegant scenography and costumes of the performance were created by the Serbian artist Angelina Atlagic.

The performance was based on the choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, but Duato composed the final act anew. The ending of this ballet is not classical.

"Cinderella" (July 15 and 16)

Age limit: 6+

The fairy tale to the music of Sergei Prokofiev is addressed to viewers of all ages, it tells about the dream, love and happiness. In the Mikhailovsky Theatre's performance, Mikhail Messerer restored the choreography of Rostislav Zakharov – it was in his embodiment that the audience saw the premiere of Cinderella in 1945.

The Mikhailovsky Theatre combines good ballet antiquity and modern technology: the performance has many virtual special effects that harmoniously coexist with classical scenery. The performance is adapted for modern audiences, including the youngest, who will definitely like the visual component.

"Romeo and Juliet" (July 19 and 20)

Age limit: 12+

Following the music of Sergei Prokofiev, Nacho Duato created his own version of the famous ballet. He filled every episode with dance, the story of the lovers unfolds against the backdrop of the city, where life does not stop for a minute. There are romantic scenes, and a street carnival, and violent clashes of warring families.

Angelina Atlagic's elegant and elegant costumes are made of flying fabrics, they emphasize the movements of the dancers and give a sense of lightness to everything that happens on stage. Restrained, but at the same time expressive scenography was created by artist Jaffar Chalabi.
